Lovely piece James.

My friend’s father taught young David Jones at colllege. I heard all sorts of stories about how he was bullied and ostracised, like many of us have been.

Bowie became an idol of mine, because despite his almost divine uniqueness, bullying and isolation, he remained utterly true to himself and never allowed ‘them’ to win. He really was glorious.

He taught me a lot about the world. He even taught me about time, love, death and grieving. He somehow gave me something that no-one in my ‘real’ life was able to. I still miss him today, he blessed the world.
