There’s Enough Money in the World for Everyone

Walking home from the pub last night, after food and drinks with uni friends, I pondered a common topic. Money. A love/hate relationship typifies my approach to money and I think it’s good to talk about that.
A headline in the news stated that going bankrupt is as damaging to health as heart disease. Stress can have such a powerful effect on health and few things cause as much stress as money. Put money and close personal relationships together, and you will see why it’s advisable not to go into business with family or friends.
Trotting home in a bouyant mood, I reflected upon how it’s been a good year so far, with much to be happy about. Yet, the simple act of having a light snack and one drink with some friends caused me anxiety, despite only costing £10. Attempting to reconcile this dissonance, I considered two facts. Firstly, if I die tonight, would I regret not socialising with friends on my last night on earth? Yes, of course. Secondly, will spending £10 effect my ability to live this month, or even next month? No.
The answers calmed my anxiety. Of course I enjoy socialising, even if occasionally reticent around people, it’s nice to engage over some food. Secondly, I’m lucky that £10 is affordable for me, so I can spend that and…
